16 employees found absent from duty



            HANDWARA, JUNE 26: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara today inspected various offices of PHE and Electric Departments and found 16 employees unauthorizedly absent from duty.  The Additional Deputy Commissioner has urged to adhere strictly to office timings, besides ensure punctuality in the government offices so that public at large shall be benefited.  He said that such inspections will be conducted on regular basis.


Taj, Akhoon visit SMHS Hospital Took stock of the damage caused due to fire incident







SRINAGAR, JUNE 26: Minister for Medical Education, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din this morning visited the SMHS Hospital Srinagar and inspected the gutted portion of the Emergency Block. ADC inspects offices at The Minister enquired about the fire incident from the hospital administration. Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din issued instructions for immediate repairs and renovation of the gutted portion of the hospital and asked hospital administration to leave no stone unturned in providing best possible and hassle-free Medicare facilities to the patients of IPD and OPD.Meanwhile, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon also visited the Hospital and interacted with the patients and attendants and enquired about the facilities being provided by the hospital administration.Mr. Akhoon, on this occasion expressed his concern over the fire incident which took place in the hospital yesterday evening. He said that the hospital is the nerve centre of the Valley and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led government is committed to ensure the best possible Medicare facilities in City Hospitals particularly and District and Sub District Hospitals in general. He directed the Doctors and Para-medics to work with zeal and dedication in order to fulfill the aspirations of the people and also to be sympathetic towards the patients suffering from various ailments.The Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Principal Medical College, Medical Superintendent SMHS, Executive Engineer works division, and senior officers of hospital administration were present on the occasion.


Talented school students inspired to take up new career options



Srinagar, June 26th:A five days motivation contact programme for talented school children started today at Institute of Hotel Management Raj bagh, Srinagar. The programme has been organized by J&K Students Welfare Society Anantnag and is sponsored by NCSTC, Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Around 100 talented students from various Schools across the Valley are participating so as to encourage and motivated them to take up new career options like research in Applied Sciences. During the inaugural function Dr. MA Shah, Professor of Physics NIT Srinagar spoke about career options in Science and inspired the students to pursue their dreams and become scientists of tomorrow. He also spoke about Nano-technology and its benefits. Dr. Sajad Ahmed from NIT delivered an interesting lecture on Sputtering. Speaking on the occasion Aamir Ali, Dy. Chief Warden Civil Defence and Executive Engineer, REW Anantnag, delivered a lecture on school safety measures and disaster preparedness. He urged the students to take up Disaster Management as a full-time career option. He gave practical demonstrations about safety measures to be taken in case of fire, safe use of LPG, first-aid, search and rescue measures. Shabir Ahmed Shabir, Chairman J&K Students Welfare Society presented vote of thanks.


Summer Coaching Camp concludes, Youth being provided sports facilities for their all round development: Taj





Beigh Shamim Ahmed :- JUNE 26: Calling students and youth to fully engage themselves in both academic and sports activities, the Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services & Sports,  Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din Wednesday said that coalition government is putting all out effort to promote sports activities  in J&K State.The Minister was addressing the valedictory function of 7 days Summer Coaching Camp organized by State Sports council at S.K. Sports Stadium Bandipora.The Minister said that our youth possesses high talent in every field which needs to be channelized in a positive way. He said government is developing playing fields in every nook and corner of the State to ensure that youth which form the future of our nation, could be provided with facilities for their all round development and bright future.Mr. Taj said first phase of summer coaching camp was held at Baramulla and its second phase has been held here at Bandipora. He said such coaching camps will also be held in other districts too.The Minister said that an amount of Rs. 40 lakh has already been sanctioned for installing flood lights in the stadia.Responding to the demands put forth by Ex Minister Mr. Usman Majeed, the Minister announced setting up of a sports academy and coaching centre subject to availability of land in the area.The Minister, later distributed certificates among the students who performed well during the coaching session.The Ex Minister and Congress leader, Mr. Usman Majeed also spoke on the occasion.Among others, Secretary Sports Council and officers of district administration were also present.

Mr. Srinagar competition held, Taj distributes prizes




BEIGH SHAMIM AHMED, JUNE 23 –J&K State Sports Council in collaboration with District Body Building Association organised Mr. Srinagar Competition here today.Minister for Youth Services and Sports Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din was the chief guest on the occasion.Mr. Mohsin won the title Mr. Srinagar while as Mr. Altaf was decided as runner-up in the competition.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Taj stressed the need for organizing Stressing on the need for organizing National levels competition in the State, Mr. Taj said that such competitions would provide much exposer to the youth of the State. He said that national level competitions also provides opportunities of interaction with their counterparts and to know their cultures.The Minister appealed media fraternity to present the State in general and Kashmir Valley in right perspective so that the factual message transcend to outside the state.Later, the Minister distributed prizes among, winner and runner-up participants

Feroz reviews functioning of JAKEDA, ‘Stresses for harnessing NRE for benefits of people’





  
BEIGH SHAMIM AHMED:- JUNE 20:- The Minister of State for Science Technology and Information Technology Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan has asked the JAKEDA authorities to gear up the field functionaries to ensure that the people of the State get optimum benefits of the schemes launched by the central and state governments under New and Renewable Energy Department.These instructions were given by the Minister while chairing a meeting of JAKEDA convened to review the functioning of the agency and the status of 6 Mini and Micro Hydel Power Projects having a cumulative capacity of 9.95 MW here today. These projects have already been taken up on IPP mode in the first phase.The Minister asked the concerned to follow the method of identification and distribution strictly as per the norms set by the Department of Science and Technology and ensure that the deserving beneficiaries get benefitted. He also instructed them for timely distribution of the procured solar systems to avoid there any damage. Mr. Feroz also asked the authorities of JAKEDA to submit the list of installed Solar Power Plants, new identified sites for construction Mini and Micro Hydel Power Projects to the Science and Technology Department for further course of action.The meeting was informed that the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has sanction installation of 20,000 No of Solar Photo Voltic (SPV), Home Lighting System under General Category for Jammu & Kashmir with a central financial assistance of 30 per cent , 20 per cent under state plan and balance 50 percent by the beneficiaries. The purchase committee has approved Rs. 10,880 per Solar Home Light, the meeting was informed.As many as 19,825 systems have been distributed among the beneficiaries of 20 districts of the state against the target of 20,000 under general category, the meeting was informed.  The meeting further informed that the MNRE has sanctioned 15,150 Solar Lanterns (SL) for remote Gujjar & Bakerwal basti at a project cost of Rs. 5.30 crore with Central Financial Assistance of Rs. 4.55 crore. As many as 6910 SL have been distributed among the beneficiaries against the target of 7865 in Kashmir Province and 6704 SL against 7285 in Jammu Province among Gujjar and Bakerwal beneficiaries, the meeting was informed.The meeting was further informed that MNRE has sanctioned 50, 377  Solar Home Lighting Systems for 225 un-electrified villages and hamlets of the State, besides additional quantity of 2055 Solar Hole Lighting System for left out households of Gurez and 927 for Marwah area, adding that 37,700 SHLs have been procured at a cost of Rs 41.02 crore after obtaining beneficiary lists from the concerned district administrations.Among others Commissioner Secretary Science Technology and Information Technology Mr. Bipul Pathak, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Hafizullah, besides district officers of JAKEDA and Science and Technology departments attended the meeting.
