Srinagar, April 19,: Bailing out his Chief Polling Agent, former Health Minister Sham
Lal Sharma Friday the proprietors of Life Line Pharma Surgical responsible for
supplying fake drugs in hospitals. Claiming that Doctors Association of Kashmir
has no registration, Sharma said that a particular newspaper is busy in spewing
venom against him. “It is a sheer frustration on part of people in Kashmir that
they are raising hue and cry over the spurious drugs while the fact is that
these drugs were supplied to Jammu based hospitals as well,” Sharma told
reports during a press conference in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.Though Sham Lal Sharma avoided most of the questions, however he
claimed that he has no role in spurious drug scam. “Fake drugs were supplied by
Life Line pharma Surgical 130/4 Dream City, Mutthi, Jammu under license number
JK-7962-63. Its proprietors, Akhil Guddo son of I.K.Gudoo resident of 109 Tamal
Colony, Bohri Talab Tillo Jammu and Amardeep Raina son of B.N.Raina 436A
Vinayek Nagar Sector 2 Mutthi, Jammu are directly responsible for supplying
fake drugs to state hospitals,” Sharma said and refused to answer when he was
asked despite knowing this why he didn’t lodge FIR against these proprietors. He said it is baseless that these drugs were supplied to Kashmir
based hospitals only. “A particular Daily is misleading people and leaves no
stone unturned in holding me responsible for all this. We supplied two lakh
capsules to Kashmir based hospitals but we also supplied seventy thousand such
capsules in Jammu as well,” Sharma said and refused to answer when he was asked
why there was no uproar in Jammu over the spurious drug scam.Sham Lal Sharma said that his chief polling agent, Ashok Sharma
has no role in this scam. “Enquiry committee has already been constituted and
we are waiting for the report of the committee. It is not Ashok Sharma but the
proprietors of Life Pharma who are involved in this scam,” he said.He claimed that Doctors Association of Kashmir has no
registration. However when he was asked why did he not take any action against
the DAK when he was Health Minister, Sharma didn’t reply. When Sharma was asked that it is not the DAK only but the people
of Kashmir and Civil Society is demanding action against him and demanding his
immediate arrest, the former Health Minister did not respond to the query.Sharma termed the allegations baseless that he had issued drug licenses
to every Tom Dick and Harry. “I issued some 4,000 drug licenses only. It is
absolutely wrong that as a Health Minister I issued more than 10,000 drug licenses,”
he said and added that for verification of drugs he had assigned the job to
professionals.
