“ GoI commends Govt for successful implementation of MGNREGA’:- Sagar Report is encouraging but still have to go long way: -Mir Altaf





Srinagar, April 16 :- Government of India in it 26 page report has termed the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as a success in Jammu and Kashmir and has claimed that five lakh and twently-eight thousand unemployed youth were given job cards under this scheme while as 42,123 developmental works have been completed by the government of Jammu and Kashmir.According to the Government of India report, the scheme has been implemented in letter and spirit as per the norms and being monitored on the lines of e-governance. The report says that Panchayat institutions are being playing a pro-active role in the implementation of this important flagship programme. The report has adjudged Jammu and Kashmir as the best state for successful implementation of MGNREGA and ranked it number one in the country.The report maintains that the government of Jammu and Kashmir especially the Rural and Development Ministry has left no stone unturned in making the Act successful in the state. “The way youth are being provided job cards and developmental works undertaken is appreciable, “the report reads.Describing the report based on facts, Rural and Development and Panchayati Raj Minister,
Ali Mohammad Sagar said that nearly 75 per cent population is involved in this scheme and that is why this scheme always remains in news for the one or the other reason.. We have taken action against 550 officers and booked them for their alleged role in bungling. We have taken action against one Additional Development Commissioner and 6 others in Shopian and taken scores of Block Development Officers to task after receiving complaints against them,” Sagar told .The Minister admitted that there are some failures. “We have given a toll free number and we address the prob
lems of the people within three days. Whatever work is being done during has been put on line during the evening under Management of Information Services (MIS) and I personally believe there are least chances for offenders to save their skin,” he said.“Terming the report as encouraging, Director, Rural and Development Department, Mir Altaf Hussain told  that the department has been trying it best to stop bungling and book the accused whose actions bring a slur on the scheme. “Exceptaions are always there. There were some reports of bungling in South Kashmir’s Shopian District where we took cognizance and referred the case to Vigilence while as the department has been keeping strict vigil on those Sarpanchas and Panchas who allegedly use this scheme for their personal benefits,” he said. “We are applying a different mechanism to get the scheme implemented in a successful manner, he added.

Sheikh Sahib’s birth anniversary Omar describes Sheikh Sahib Architect of progressive, educative J&K



INB NEWS KASHMIR:- DECEMBER 05 – Describing Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah architect of progressive, educative and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday said that the reformative, comprehensive and equitable development concept with empowerment of common people its central theme envisioned by the late leader will loom large on the socio-economic and political spectrum of the State forever.Omar said that universalization of education and implementation of land reforms were landmark and path breaking decisions of Sheikh Sahib aimed at development of youth force and socio-economic transformation of farmers. He said that the principal of public empowerment to involve people in policy formulation and implementation of development programmes set by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah holds significance and importance in all times. “Sheikh Sahib’s concept of single line administration to ensure good governance is all time relevant and effective initiative to guide us in rendering needed service to the people”, he added.Paying glowing tributes to Sher-i-Kashmir on the birth anniversary of late leader at a function held at Mazaar-e-Sheikh Sahib, Hazratbal, here, Omar Abdullah said that public cause remained always dearest to Sheikh Sahib and he spent his life to seek wellbeing, dignity and prosperity for the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh irrespective of any consideration of creed, caste, region or religion.Omar said Sher-i-Kashmir was personification of amity, brotherhood and pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir. “Throughout his life he preached and worked for unity and amity between various sections and regions of the State. His slogan of Hindu-Muslim-Sikh Ithad still reverberates every area of Jammu and Kashmir”, Omar said and referred to the sacrifices made by Sher-i-Kashmir for the State and its people. He said that peaceful means to achieve goals remained benchmark of Sheikh Sahib’s life style. “He and his companions suffered themselves but not let people to suffer”, Omar added and said that Sheikh Sahib pulled society from desperation to dignity and from gloom to enthusiasm.  The Chief Minister said that the best way to pay tributes to Sheikh Sahib will be to strengthen the democratic and secular values and work for empowerment of common man. He said establishment of a powerful and viable panchayat raj in the State would amount realizing the dream of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Omar said that transfer of power from secretariat to grass roots and making panchayat raj flourish in the State is determination of his government. He asked the workers and lovers of great leader to work selflessly for development and upliftment of all sections of the society particularly those living below the poverty line.Omar Abdullah asked the workers to make young generation aware of the high principles and sacrifices of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and his mission for prosperous, peaceful, democratic, classless and secular society in Jammu and Kashmir.The Chief Minister on his behalf and on behalf of President, National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed gratitude to people and NC workers for visiting Mazaar-e-Sheikh Sahib and remembering him on his birth anniversary. Omar Abdullah also expressed gratitude to National Conference activists for working hard during recently held election to Legislative Council seats reserved for Panchayat Members. “God will give you sweet fruit for your tireless work”, he told them. Earlier, Omar Abdullah laid floral wreath over the grave of Sheikh Sahib and offered fateh. He also prayed for peace and development in the State and wellbeing of the people.Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Medical Education, R. Sagar asks Panches, Sarpanches to cooperate with govt

  SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 29: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that government has put in place a vibrant Panchayati Raj System by ensuring proper empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions. The Minister was addressing a large gathering of Panches and Sarpanches at Khrew here today.He said government took up massive developmental projects and strengthened infrastructure in all the three regions, thereby assuring peace and prosperity for all the sections of the society.He said the government took various initiatives for attracting more and more tourists to the state which resulted in improving economy of the people.Giving resume of various worth mentioning activities of present government, Mr. Sagar said that widening and six laning project of National Highway, connecting railway service with valley and several power projects taken in hand by the state government shall hopefully open windows of prosperity for people and shall make them self reliant in the days to come.He appealed the Panches and Sarpanches to cooperate with government in implementation process of various development and welfare schemes.
