CM expresses grief over Doda road accident



December 11,INB NEWS KASHMIR: -Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in a road accident in Doda. He has also conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for early recovery of the injured.Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide all required medicare facilities to the injured.

Declares open the 61st All Indian Police Hockey Championship Omar for early resolution of Olympic row



INB NEWS KASHMIR, December 07 – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Friday expressed the hope that Indian Sports Ministry and Indian Olympic Association will take urgent steps to resolve the issue with International Olympic Association so that Indian Sportsperson could take part in the international events under Indian banner. Declaring open 61st All India Police Hockey Championship here this afternoon, Omar Abdullah said that players take pride to march at international events under their National Flag. “They are enthusiastic to represent their country and bring laurels to it”, he said and emphasized the need for early resolution of the row between Indian Olympic Association and that of International Olympic Association. Omar Abdullah welcomed the J&K Police Department for holding the All India Police Hockey Championship here and said that during past some years J&K State has been able to organize about a dozen national sports events in the State which is highly encouraging sign for the development of sports and showcasing conducive conditions prevailing in the State for organizing such events more often. The Chief Minister referred to the supremacy of India in hockey adding that India once used to be king of international hockey but unfortunately ‘we have to struggle hard to win a medal in this game’. Omar stressed on working out befitting strategy to restore the glory India possessed in the field of hockey. Omar Abdullah who is also President of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council said that State Government is paying full attention to the development and growth of sports and sportsperson. He said that various measures have been taken to nurture talent and provide infrastructure for playing different games in the State at various levels. The Chief Minister said that participation in sports not only inculcates discipline and zest to achieve goals in youth but helps them develop holistically. He said that participation in different sports is imperative for the human resource development. He said sports also provide opportunity to the players to make friends and understand different cultures at the national and international levels. Welcoming the participants of 61st All India Police Hockey Championship, Omar said that the players would witness the friendly atmosphere and hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir during their stay here. He expressed the hope that the players from various states of the country taking part in the tournament would narrate their good experience and showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s conducive atmosphere and potential for holding different national sports events, in their home states. Director General Police, Ashok Prasad in his welcome address gave details of the tournament and presented resume of the efforts Jammu and Kashmir Police Department is putting in to encourage sportsperson and develop sports in the State. Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, K. Rajindra presented vote of thanks on the occasion. Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Sports and Youth Services, R. S. Chib, Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Legislators, Chaman Lal Gupta, Ashwani Kumar, Jahangir Mir, Naresh Kumar Gupta, senior police and civil officers were present on the occasion. As many as 23 teams from various states and police forces are participating in the Championship which started today and will conclude on December 14, 2012.

Sheikh Sahib’s birth anniversary Omar describes Sheikh Sahib Architect of progressive, educative J&K



INB NEWS KASHMIR:- DECEMBER 05 – Describing Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah architect of progressive, educative and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday said that the reformative, comprehensive and equitable development concept with empowerment of common people its central theme envisioned by the late leader will loom large on the socio-economic and political spectrum of the State forever.Omar said that universalization of education and implementation of land reforms were landmark and path breaking decisions of Sheikh Sahib aimed at development of youth force and socio-economic transformation of farmers. He said that the principal of public empowerment to involve people in policy formulation and implementation of development programmes set by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah holds significance and importance in all times. “Sheikh Sahib’s concept of single line administration to ensure good governance is all time relevant and effective initiative to guide us in rendering needed service to the people”, he added.Paying glowing tributes to Sher-i-Kashmir on the birth anniversary of late leader at a function held at Mazaar-e-Sheikh Sahib, Hazratbal, here, Omar Abdullah said that public cause remained always dearest to Sheikh Sahib and he spent his life to seek wellbeing, dignity and prosperity for the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh irrespective of any consideration of creed, caste, region or religion.Omar said Sher-i-Kashmir was personification of amity, brotherhood and pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir. “Throughout his life he preached and worked for unity and amity between various sections and regions of the State. His slogan of Hindu-Muslim-Sikh Ithad still reverberates every area of Jammu and Kashmir”, Omar said and referred to the sacrifices made by Sher-i-Kashmir for the State and its people. He said that peaceful means to achieve goals remained benchmark of Sheikh Sahib’s life style. “He and his companions suffered themselves but not let people to suffer”, Omar added and said that Sheikh Sahib pulled society from desperation to dignity and from gloom to enthusiasm.  The Chief Minister said that the best way to pay tributes to Sheikh Sahib will be to strengthen the democratic and secular values and work for empowerment of common man. He said establishment of a powerful and viable panchayat raj in the State would amount realizing the dream of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Omar said that transfer of power from secretariat to grass roots and making panchayat raj flourish in the State is determination of his government. He asked the workers and lovers of great leader to work selflessly for development and upliftment of all sections of the society particularly those living below the poverty line.Omar Abdullah asked the workers to make young generation aware of the high principles and sacrifices of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and his mission for prosperous, peaceful, democratic, classless and secular society in Jammu and Kashmir.The Chief Minister on his behalf and on behalf of President, National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed gratitude to people and NC workers for visiting Mazaar-e-Sheikh Sahib and remembering him on his birth anniversary. Omar Abdullah also expressed gratitude to National Conference activists for working hard during recently held election to Legislative Council seats reserved for Panchayat Members. “God will give you sweet fruit for your tireless work”, he told them. Earlier, Omar Abdullah laid floral wreath over the grave of Sheikh Sahib and offered fateh. He also prayed for peace and development in the State and wellbeing of the people.Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Medical Education, R. Sher-i-Kashmir symbolizes unity, amity of J&K:-Omar Pays tributes to late leader on his birth anniversary



DECEMBER 04, INB NEWS KASHMIR :-Paying rich tributes to late Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his birth anniversary on 5th of December, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah described the late leader symbol of amity, unity and progress of Jammu and Kashmir. “Sheikh Sahib denotes the State’s high traits of pluralistic ethos and communal harmony. He nurtured and strengthened this characteristic and cemented the bonds of love between various sections of the society and different regions of the State”, he added. “The slogan of ‘Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Ithad’ preached and practiced by Sher-i-Kashmir throughout his life, still reverberates the valleys, plains and mountains in the State and the universal harmony cultivated by Sheikh Sahib has become the integral part of the State’s quality”, Omar said. The Chief Minister said that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was the epitome of sacrifices and he always fought for the cause and dignity of general people. “His target was empowerment of common man and equitable development of the State. His vision of ‘Naya Kashmir’ embedded holistic and comprehensive development of all sections and all regions”, Omar elaborated.Omar Abdullah said that the empowerment of people in the State would be our rich tribute to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. He said Sheikh Sahib’s high principals and sacrifice would continue to guide us to march on path of peace and development with a commitment. Omar said that the best way of paying tributes to the great leader is that we strive for peaceful, progressive and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.

All India VC’s T20 Cricket Cup finale CM gives away prizes ,KU lifts trophy




DECEMBER 03,INB NEWS KASHMIR :-  – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah this afternoon gave away prizes at the conclusion of All India Vice Chancellor’s T20 Cricket Cup finale played between Universities of Kashmir and Jammu.The Kashmir University lifted the trophy by beating Jammu University in a thrilling match by 6 wickets. The Kashmir University achieved the victory in 19th over surpassing the targets of 118 runs put by Jammu University.Omar Abdullah also gave individuals prizes to the players of both the teams. He presented winner’s trophy to the captain of Kashmir University and runners up trophy to the captain of Jammu University.The Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Additional Director General of Police, K. Rajindra and various other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
