Police-Public Mela Prasad thanks people for participation, announces raffle draw results






MARCH 31: Results of raffle draw for prizes of Police Public Mela were announced at Police Sports Stadium Gulshan Ground here this evening. The draw was held in presence of large gathering of men, women and children.Small children drawn from the gathering picked the lucky numbers for prizes of different categories in presence of Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad, Chairperson, J&K Police Wives Welfare Association, Mrs. Kiran Prasad, senior police officers and lady members of police parivar.The first prize five Santro Cars were won by raffle draw ticket numbers A-43230, B-31705, C-15475, D-57093 and E-30382 ,2nd prize five Alto  Cars-800  were  bagged  by  ticket  number  A-22199, B-17141, C-34753, D-03957 and E-42207. The 3rd prize five Nano Cars were won by ticket number A-86801, B-53642, C-18749, D-70265 and E-52377. 4th prize five Moor Cycles won by A-34868, B-73475, C-52286, D-80155 and E-55337. Similarly the 5th prize five Scooties went to raffle draw ticket numbers A-93828, B-03854, C-84351, D-31356 and E-09878. The 6th prize five Laptop Computers goes to ticket numbers A-50671, B- 53311, C-36604, D-15348 and E-98155. The 7th prize five LCD TVs goes to ticket numbers A-88572, B-21271, C-02668, D-19709 and E-46816. The 8th prize  five Tab  won by  ticket  numbers  A-10056, B-87554, C-23770,  D-10984 and E-49719. The 9th prize five AC.75 were bagged by ticket numbers A-85183, B-56630, C-12374, D-90832 and E-96663. The 10th prize five Washing Machine were  bagged  by  ticket numbers A-35001, B-28110, C-04293, D-95226 and E-78795.  The 11th Prize,  five  Rice  Cooker  goes  to  tickets Nos: A-47625, B-59490, C-43984, D-20169 and E-79758.Accordingly 50 Cash prizes of Rs. 1,000/- each goes to tickets with their last four digits 7757. Likewise 500 cash prizes of Rs.500/- goes to tickets having last three digits 229 and the 5000 cash prizes of Rs.200/- goes to tickets having last two digits 38.The Special Bumper Prize which includes one Nissan Micra has been bagged by ticket No. A-38635.The Mela was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life besides top ranks of JKP, lady members JKPWWA and officers from civil administration. They showed great interest in the purchase of goods put for sale by the stall holders. Visitors enjoyed entertainments presented by various cultural groups. Children in colourful dresses had thronged the venue early in the morning and enjoyed and amusement. Prasad thanked the people for their massive participation in the day long Mela. Several prizes were handed over to the prize winners on the spot, who were present in the raffle draw. The other prize winners have been advised to approach the AIG (Welfare) PHQ, along with original tickets to receive the prizes during office hours.

No animosity with Hurriyat: -DG Police Ashok Prasad



Srinagar, March 15, Director General of Police, Ashok Prasad Friday said that police has no animosity with Hurriyat leaders but only nabbing those who are disturbing peace. He said police has got some important leads in Bemina Fidayeen attack and the militant arrested from Chattabal area is being questioned. “Several persons are being questioned and hopefully we will get some lead,” Ashok Prasad told that stone pelting is a criminal activity and whosoever indulges in it will face the music.“Who told you that we have started a crackdown of MMM and other Hurriyat leaders? We have no animosity with anyone including Hurriyat but when someone breaks law, it becomes our duty to nab him and bring order in society,” Prasad said.He said that there are certain people who instigate youth and those people need to be arrested and we have arrested few of them. “Our job is to maintain peace and order and that’s what we are doing,” he said adding that Police has already registered an FIR in Saidapora’s youth killing.“An FIR has been lodged in police station in the killing of Altaf Ahmed Wani and investigation has been started. We are right now busy in maintain law and order and once there comes order we will look up all the cases,” he said.While replying to a question, Ashok Prasad said that the police have got some important clues in Bemina Fidayeen attack. “Some persons were questioned and hopefully we will crack this case in coming days. We have already arrested a person and he is being thoroughly questioned,” DG police said.

Declares open the 61st All Indian Police Hockey Championship Omar for early resolution of Olympic row



INB NEWS KASHMIR, December 07 – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Friday expressed the hope that Indian Sports Ministry and Indian Olympic Association will take urgent steps to resolve the issue with International Olympic Association so that Indian Sportsperson could take part in the international events under Indian banner. Declaring open 61st All India Police Hockey Championship here this afternoon, Omar Abdullah said that players take pride to march at international events under their National Flag. “They are enthusiastic to represent their country and bring laurels to it”, he said and emphasized the need for early resolution of the row between Indian Olympic Association and that of International Olympic Association. Omar Abdullah welcomed the J&K Police Department for holding the All India Police Hockey Championship here and said that during past some years J&K State has been able to organize about a dozen national sports events in the State which is highly encouraging sign for the development of sports and showcasing conducive conditions prevailing in the State for organizing such events more often. The Chief Minister referred to the supremacy of India in hockey adding that India once used to be king of international hockey but unfortunately ‘we have to struggle hard to win a medal in this game’. Omar stressed on working out befitting strategy to restore the glory India possessed in the field of hockey. Omar Abdullah who is also President of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council said that State Government is paying full attention to the development and growth of sports and sportsperson. He said that various measures have been taken to nurture talent and provide infrastructure for playing different games in the State at various levels. The Chief Minister said that participation in sports not only inculcates discipline and zest to achieve goals in youth but helps them develop holistically. He said that participation in different sports is imperative for the human resource development. He said sports also provide opportunity to the players to make friends and understand different cultures at the national and international levels. Welcoming the participants of 61st All India Police Hockey Championship, Omar said that the players would witness the friendly atmosphere and hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir during their stay here. He expressed the hope that the players from various states of the country taking part in the tournament would narrate their good experience and showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s conducive atmosphere and potential for holding different national sports events, in their home states. Director General Police, Ashok Prasad in his welcome address gave details of the tournament and presented resume of the efforts Jammu and Kashmir Police Department is putting in to encourage sportsperson and develop sports in the State. Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, K. Rajindra presented vote of thanks on the occasion. Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Sports and Youth Services, R. S. Chib, Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Legislators, Chaman Lal Gupta, Ashwani Kumar, Jahangir Mir, Naresh Kumar Gupta, senior police and civil officers were present on the occasion. As many as 23 teams from various states and police forces are participating in the Championship which started today and will conclude on December 14, 2012.

Inaugurates FSL complex at Bemina Omar highlights role of Forensic Science Laboratory in punishing culprits



INB NEWS KASHMIR:- DECEMBER 05 – Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday highlighted the role of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in establishing criminal cases and handing over punishment to the culprits as per the law. He said fast clearance of cases by FSL would give imputes to the investigations and shorten the process of delivering justice.Chief Minister this afternoon inaugurated new complex for FSL at Bemina constructed at a cost of about Rs.11 crores. The Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Legislator Irfan Ahmed Shah, Principal Secretary Home, B. R. Sharma, Director General of Police, Ashok Prasad, Additional Director General Police, K. Rajindra and other senior officers were present on the occasion.It was stated on the occasion that Directorate of Forensic Science Services, MHA, Government of India has sanctioned Rs.83 lakh for creation of two central Forensic Mobile Units, one each at Srinagar and Jammu. There is also proposal for creation of new divisions of Brain Mapping, Computer Cyber Crime, DNA Profiling and Voice Identification to make FSL service modern and more proactive.It was stated that FSL has cleared 2250 cases out of the 3000 referred to it and the achievement in case of narcotics related cases has been 100%. During the current year first ever Forensic Science Conference was held at Srinagar in which 350 delegates from India and other countries participated.
