Vehicles with anti-skid chains and 4x4 to ply Tangmarg-Gulmarg


Srinagar, INB NEWS:-Various areas including Gulmarg, Tangmarg, Sonamarg, Machil, Tangdhar, Gurez, Pahalgam, Zanaskar experienced light to moderate snowfall. Gulmarg recorded a depth of 1 to 1.5 feet, Gurez 1 foot, Pahlagam 4 to 6 inches, Zojila got around 2 feet snow. The roads leading to Kargil, Machil, Tangdhar, Gurez, Zanaskar remained closed today. However, Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was open for traffic. Air traffic remained normal, with all flights operating, on time.In view of snowfall and slippery conditions of Tangmarg-Gulmarg road, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon has ordered that only such vehicles having 4x4 facility or vehicles fitted with anti-skid chains on tyres, shall be allowed to move from Tangmarg upto Gulmarg, in the interest of the safety of the passengers, till further orders.Dy. Commissioner, Baramulla,Gulam Ahmed khawaja , Sr. Supdt. of Police, Baramulla,  Anand Jain,CEO, Gulmarg Development Authority, SDPO/Tehsildar Tangmarg have been asked to ensure implementation of the order in letter and spirit.
