16 employees found absent from duty



            HANDWARA, JUNE 26: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara today inspected various offices of PHE and Electric Departments and found 16 employees unauthorizedly absent from duty.  The Additional Deputy Commissioner has urged to adhere strictly to office timings, besides ensure punctuality in the government offices so that public at large shall be benefited.  He said that such inspections will be conducted on regular basis.


Taj, Akhoon visit SMHS Hospital Took stock of the damage caused due to fire incident







SRINAGAR, JUNE 26: Minister for Medical Education, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din this morning visited the SMHS Hospital Srinagar and inspected the gutted portion of the Emergency Block. ADC inspects offices at The Minister enquired about the fire incident from the hospital administration. Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din issued instructions for immediate repairs and renovation of the gutted portion of the hospital and asked hospital administration to leave no stone unturned in providing best possible and hassle-free Medicare facilities to the patients of IPD and OPD.Meanwhile, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon also visited the Hospital and interacted with the patients and attendants and enquired about the facilities being provided by the hospital administration.Mr. Akhoon, on this occasion expressed his concern over the fire incident which took place in the hospital yesterday evening. He said that the hospital is the nerve centre of the Valley and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led government is committed to ensure the best possible Medicare facilities in City Hospitals particularly and District and Sub District Hospitals in general. He directed the Doctors and Para-medics to work with zeal and dedication in order to fulfill the aspirations of the people and also to be sympathetic towards the patients suffering from various ailments.The Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Principal Medical College, Medical Superintendent SMHS, Executive Engineer works division, and senior officers of hospital administration were present on the occasion.


Talented school students inspired to take up new career options



Srinagar, June 26th:A five days motivation contact programme for talented school children started today at Institute of Hotel Management Raj bagh, Srinagar. The programme has been organized by J&K Students Welfare Society Anantnag and is sponsored by NCSTC, Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Around 100 talented students from various Schools across the Valley are participating so as to encourage and motivated them to take up new career options like research in Applied Sciences. During the inaugural function Dr. MA Shah, Professor of Physics NIT Srinagar spoke about career options in Science and inspired the students to pursue their dreams and become scientists of tomorrow. He also spoke about Nano-technology and its benefits. Dr. Sajad Ahmed from NIT delivered an interesting lecture on Sputtering. Speaking on the occasion Aamir Ali, Dy. Chief Warden Civil Defence and Executive Engineer, REW Anantnag, delivered a lecture on school safety measures and disaster preparedness. He urged the students to take up Disaster Management as a full-time career option. He gave practical demonstrations about safety measures to be taken in case of fire, safe use of LPG, first-aid, search and rescue measures. Beigh Shamim Ahmed :- JUNE 26: Calling students and youth to fully engage themselves in both academic and sports activities, the Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services & Sports,  Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din Wednesday said that coalition government is putting all out effort to promote sports activities  in J&K State.The Minister was addressing the valedictory function of 7 days Summer Coaching Camp organized by State Sports council at S.K. Sports Stadium Bandipora.The Minister said that our youth possesses high talent in every field which needs to be channelized in a positive way. He said government is developing playing fields in every nook and corner of the State to ensure that youth which form the future of our nation, could be provided with facilities for their all round development and bright future.Mr. Taj said first phase of summer coaching camp was held at Baramulla and its second phase has been held here at Bandipora. He said such coaching camps will also be held in other districts too.The Minister said that an amount of Rs. 40 lakh has already been sanctioned for installing flood lights in the stadia.Responding to the demands put forth by Ex Minister Mr. Usman Majeed, the Minister announced setting up of a sports academy and coaching centre subject to availability of land in the area.The Minister, later distributed certificates among the students who performed well during the coaching session.The Ex Minister and Congress leader, Mr. Usman Majeed also spoke on the occasion.Among others, Secretary Sports Council and officers of district administration were also present.

Mr. Srinagar competition held, Taj distributes prizes

Feroz reviews functioning of JAKEDA, ‘Stresses for harnessing NRE for benefits of people’





  
BEIGH SHAMIM AHMED:- JUNE 20:- The Minister of State for Science Technology and Information Technology Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan has asked the JAKEDA authorities to gear up the field functionaries to ensure that the people of the State get optimum benefits of the schemes launched by the central and state governments under New and Renewable Energy Department.These instructions were given by the Minister while chairing a meeting of JAKEDA convened to review the functioning of the agency and the status of 6 Mini and Micro Hydel Power Projects having a cumulative capacity of 9.95 MW here today. These projects have already been taken up on IPP mode in the first phase.The Minister asked the concerned to follow the method of identification and distribution strictly as per the norms set by the Department of Science and Technology and ensure that the deserving beneficiaries get benefitted. He also instructed them for timely distribution of the procured solar systems to avoid there any damage. Mr. Feroz also asked the authorities of JAKEDA to submit the list of installed Solar Power Plants, new identified sites for construction Mini and Micro Hydel Power Projects to the Science and Technology Department for further course of action.The meeting was informed that the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has sanction installation of 20,000 No of Solar Photo Voltic (SPV), Home Lighting System under General Category for Jammu & Kashmir with a central financial assistance of 30 per cent , 20 per cent under state plan and balance 50 percent by the beneficiaries. The purchase committee has approved Rs. 10,880 per Solar Home Light, the meeting was informed.As many as 19,825 systems have been distributed among the beneficiaries of 20 districts of the state against the target of 20,000 under general category, the meeting was informed.  The meeting further informed that the MNRE has sanctioned 15,150 Solar Lanterns (SL) for remote Gujjar & Bakerwal basti at a project cost of Rs. 5.30 crore with Central Financial Assistance of Rs. 4.55 crore. As many as 6910 SL have been distributed among the beneficiaries against the target of 7865 in Kashmir Province and 6704 SL against 7285 in Jammu Province among Gujjar and Bakerwal beneficiaries, the meeting was informed.The meeting was further informed that MNRE has sanctioned 50, 377  Solar Home Lighting Systems for 225 un-electrified villages and hamlets of the State, besides additional quantity of 2055 Solar Hole Lighting System for left out households of Gurez and 927 for Marwah area, adding that 37,700 SHLs have been procured at a cost of Rs 41.02 crore after obtaining beneficiary lists from the concerned district administrations.Among others Commissioner Secretary Science Technology and Information Technology Mr. Bipul Pathak, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Hafizullah, besides district officers of JAKEDA and Science and Technology departments attended the meeting.

DG prisons visits central Jail took stock of security Interacted with Jail inmates and Medical staff







Srinagar, June 20: The Director General of prisons, J&K Sh. K. Rejendra visited Central Jail, Srinagar today and directed measures for up-gradation of vocational training facilities in the Jail and interacted with the jail inmates regarding the facilities available to them in the jail.Sh. K Rajendra stressed upon the Jail authorities for furthering various reformative programmes that can go a long way in making them self reliant so that they cannot face any problem in the society after their release.He was accompanied by DIG prisons Mr. Mohammad Sultan Lone. The DG prisons along with DIG prisons, Dy.Commandant CRPF and Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar, Sh. Mohammad Ayub Bhat took stock of security of the Jail and interacted with Jail inmates.The DG prisons also enquired from the prisoners about the facilities being provided to them by the Jail authorities. The Jail inmates show their satisfaction over the facilities like medical, diet and other recreational facilities provided to them.The DG prisons also reviewed the ongoing construction works of the Jail and directed measures for upgrading the vocational training programmes for Jail inmates so that after their release from the Jail they will be able to earn their livelihood and live a respectable life in the society.The DG prisons also visited ten bedded hospital of the Jail and interacted with the doctors and Para medical staff. He advised the doctors to provide best medical facilities to the jail inmates round the clock.The visit to Central Jail, Srinagar was in continuance to the series of visits by the Director General of Prison to the District Jail. Yesterday the DG Prisons visited the Anantnag jail for seeking on the ground feedback from the jail inmates about the facilities available to them.

He assured the people that their demands would be addressed in phased manner.He told that Minister Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Khan Responded to local demands of the Kund people has given on spot orders for Toilet facilities ,drainage system and assured that all those farmers whose lands were acquired for road construction would soon be given their compensations. He asked youth to take benefit of many of the job oriented schemes launched by the Government. Bhat appealed the people not to heed on false propaganda and hollow sloganeering of vested interests whose motive always was to use the innocent people for their political and personal interests and create hurdle on developmental process of the State. Taj announces sports complex for Lolab Asks people to be cautious of divisive, vested interest elements








LOLAB, JUNE 19: The picturesque valley of Lolab would soon be having a state of the art sports complex equipped with the facilities of playing both outdoor and indoor games despite vagaries of weather.The sports complex would be set up at Gund Machur for which the Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi- ud- Din announced the release of Rs five crore during his visit to the Valley today.Addressing a largely attended public gathering of eight thousand people at Gund Machur, the Minister said the present Government is working hard to ameliorate the living standards of people particularly those living below poverty line, in far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society. He said many schemes and programmes are in vogue for the purpose.Terming sports as a means to shape up one’s personality, Mr. Taj said youth are the future of society and the Government has started giving sports infrastructure a re look so that youth are engaged in positive and constructive ways.The Minister asked people to remain cautious of the designs of vested interest groups who create division among people in the name of catchy slogans and ideas. He said their aim is just to hoodwink the gullible and innocent people and not to make any positive contribution to people’s lives.Mr. Taj said he himself feels very attached to Lolab and it has attracted the attention of many great personalities like poet Iqbal and has been the home of renowned religious scholar late Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri who rose to be an authority on Quran & Hadith in South Asia.Responding to the demands put before him, the Minister said the recruitment of Physical Education teachers would soon commence. He said Government would consider the demands of NYK volunteers sympathetically. He also assured nomination of ten students from the area for paramedical training.Mr. Taj also announced developing two stadia at the two blocks of the Lolab Valley. Jagti Township residents protest against government at Khirbhawani




Ganderbal, June 17: Jagti Township residents protested against prolonged power curtailment at Khirbhuwani temple shortly after Omar Abdullah made his entry in the Kherbhawani. Amid NC and CM slogans, the protestors tried to stop the Chief Minister, however Omar Abdullah did not stop and left the spot without talking to anyone. Omar Abdullah even did not oblige to media personnel who were waiting for him outside the temple.According to reports scores of residents from Jagti Township who had visited Khirbhawani raised slogans against Omar Abdullah for failing to provide electricity to in the township.Protestors alleged that Chief Minister and his government is indifferent towards their problems and he is acting like an autocrat who never mingles with people. It was only after the intervention of police officials that protestors dispersed peacefully.One of the protestors told that prolonged Power curtailments in the Jagti Migrant Camp, Jammu has made the life of the camp inmates miserable at a time when the mercury was going up with every passing day. .He said that the Power Minister and Power Development Department are forcing Jagti tenements to enter into agreement with the department to bear the electric charges, ignoring their poor financial condition.

Mehbooba called on Governor , discusses problems facing the state





Srinagar, June 15 ::: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti called for revival of peace process by carrying forward the confidence building measures that had brought about a qualitative change in the state but had been held back over the past five years. She conveyed her feelings and perspective on the uneasy situation prevailing in the state to Governor N N Vohra here today.During her one and half hour meeting with Governor Mehbooba told the governor how lack of progress in the peace process had revived the feelings of cynicism and alienation that had been neutralized to some extent under the previous government. She said there has been no progress on taking the cross LoC trade and travel to its next level in accordance with the original vision. She told the governor that by now the volume of trade should have increased and its scope expanded manifold.Similarly the hassles faced in travel across the LoC should have been removed and the facility should have become available to all sections of society and not remained restricted to the divided families alone.While discussing the up coming Amarnath Yatra Mehbooba told the governor that this prilgrimage has historically been part of Kashmiri ethos and culture of hospitality. She told him that it was necessary to involve all local stake holders in its conduct so that its economic benefits reach the deserving sections of population and the traditional spirit of this pilgrimage is fully revived.Mehbooba discussed with the Governor the difficulties faced by the people on account of the incompetence and in sensitivity of the present government. She told him how the state had been unable to benefit from centrally sponsored schemes which offer unlimited access to funds in different socio economic sectors. She conveyed her concern to the Governor about the inability of the government to spend fully and purposefully even the funds received under the normal plan which had resulted in the virtual lapsing of funds to the tune of Rs= 2100 crores last year. She told the Governor as to how on the other hand the government was unable to pay bills for amounts that it owed to contractors and suppliers bringing the development process to a halt.Referring to the increasing unemployment problem Mehbooba told the governor that the failure to create new avenues of employment was adversely effecting a whole generation of qualified and educated youth. She said even though government of India had made announcements about many schemes but the lack of a matching seriousness in followup had rendered them almost useless.The Governor and the PDP president exchanged the views on a range of other problems facing the state. They discussed the problem of corruption, lack of accountability, the shortage of amenities and above all the crisis faced by the poser sector. Mehbooba told the Governor as to how it was crucial for the state to develop sustainable power resources not just for providing relief to people in their daily lives but also establish an industrial base that ultimately could take care of the unemployment problem.

Grand Final of “Choona Hai Aasman”shall be held at SKICC







Srinagar, June 13: “Choona Hai Aasman” a singing competition is a flagship of Jammu and Kashmir Police endeavour which gives platform and proper direction to the talent of underprivileged children of the State. The programme was conceived in 2010 and a talent hunt was started to identify the budding artists in all districts of the State.The show that traverses to the entire length and breadth of the State, starts at each district where more than three to four thousand artists simultaneously perform in all the 25 districts of State under the supervision of District Superintendent’s of Police. Consequently more than one lakh aspirants compete for the top slot in Male and Female category of singing. The winners of each district are then called at the Range Level i.e combination of three districts and compete under the supervision of Range Deputy Inspector General of Police. Those selected in the Ranges then compete at the Zone level for the best three slots in junior and senior categories and then progress to the finals i.e Jammu Zone Vs Kashmir Zone to determine the winners and thereby showcase the best talent of singing in the State.The endeavour has been bringing good results and the winners of our state level competitions have competed at the National Level in the famous reality shows on satellite channels also. Miss Sonali Dogra participated in “Voice of Punjab” of PTC Punjabi Channel and stood overall 2nd Mr. Sumit Kumar, a finalist of “Choona Hai Aasman” season-1 was among the 16th finalists of Zee TV’s “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa- 2012” . Mr. Sumit Kumar alongwith Mudassar, also reached finals of the singing competition “Bharat Ki Shan” on DD National. Likewise Nikhil Kumar and Miss Priyanka, the winners of (2010-11) and (2011-12) “Choona Hai Aasman” contest in senior category of vocal reached the last 36 stage of Sony TV’s reality show “Indian Idol”. This year District level, Range level as well as the zone level Competition of “Choona Hai Aasman” Season-III have already been conducted and now the Grand Finale shall be held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre SKICC, Srinagar on 15th of June, 2013.Noted singers Annu Malik, Sadhna Sargam and Ashok Thakeraia are arriving here to grace the grand event.

AIR FORCE SCHOOL SRINAGAR CELEBRATES ANNUAL SPORTS DAY






SRINAGAR, 13 JUN 2013: Air Force School, Srinagar organised a splendid and colourful display of drill, aerobics, Yoga and other track & field events on the occasion of Annual Sports Day. The sports meet was declared open by the chief guest Air Commodore B Balachandran, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Srinagar.The enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by tiny tots was noteworthy. In spite of their tender age, they exhibited articulate co-ordination and indomitable spirit. Taj reviews GMC, SMHS functioning ,Post triage protocol significant decline in mortality at SMHS







SRINAGAR, JUNE 13: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din reviewed the functioning of Government Medical College, Srinagar and SMHS Hospital here today.The meeting also reviewed the status of upcoming super specialty Hospital, Srinagar.Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed the authorities to provide quality and hassle free treatment to patients for which he asked them to augment all material and human resources. He directed filling up of posts of para medics immediately on academic arrangement basis so that the patient care at these hospitals does not suffer.The Minister directed completion of computerization at the college and also completion within time of works on the proposed Super Specialty Hospital, Srinagar.Mr Taj also reviewed the opening of evening clinics and directed immediate steps too be taken for operationlizing them.The meeting was told that there has been a significant reduction in mortality at SMHS hospital ever since the triage protocol was introduced.Principal, GMC, Dr. Rafiq Pampori and other officers were present in the meeting.

Shopian Annual Plan pegs for Rs. 6529 lakh Peerzada calls for concerted efforts for making J&K a prosperous State







SRINAGAR, JUNE 13: The District Development Board (DDB) meeting which held here today under the Chairmanship of Minister for Public Enterprises, Haj, Auqaf and Floriculture Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, approved Rs. 6529.02 lakh plan outlay for Shopian District for 2013-14. The plan includes Capital component of Rs. 4822.05 lakh and revenue component of Rs. 1706.97 lakh.Legislators Mrs. Mehbooba Mufti, Mr. Abdul Razak Zawoora and Mr. Showket Hussain Ganai were present in the meeting.Addressing the meeting, the Minister threw light on the historical background of Shopian and said that it is the gate way of Kashmir Valley, adding that 2.51Lakh MTs of fresh and dry fruit is being produced and dispatche3d to the various markets within the country and exported as well having a market value of Rs. 500 Crore.The Minister appreciated the District Administration for ensuring the maximum utilization of available funds. He asked the officers to perform their duties with dedication, so that the funds approved for the current fiscal are also utilized in full and development scenario of the district is improved. He also asked them to take on board the public representatives while formulating any development project of public utility, so that the demands of people of all the areas are accommodated equitably andaccordingly.Calling for concerted efforts for making J&K a prosperous State, Peerzada asked the concerned for fully utilizing the funds provided by the Government of India for development purposes. He also asked them to use local resources for the welfare of the people of the State.Responding to the demands raised by legislators about their respective Constituencies, the Minister directed the concerned officers to take appropriate actions for redressing their grievances. He also assured the legislators that the decisions taken in the DDB meetings would be implemented in letter and spirit.The meeting took sector-wise review of Financial and Physical achievements registered during the last year’s district annual plan and action taken to implement the decisions taken in the last DDB meeting.District Development Commissioner (DDC), Shopian Mr. Mohammad Javid Khan presented power point presentation and presented the highlights of the achievements registered under various sectors during 2012-13. He also proposed proposals of some new development projects for the district which were specially recommended for sanction by the DDB.The meeting was informed that developmental projects worth Rs. 260 crore have been completed during last one year, adding that the developmental projects of Rs. 280 crore are expected to be completed during current fiscal.Among others, heads of various departments, district and Sectoral officers of the district also attended the meeting

Army and Police came close to a clash in Kupwara, Two Army trucks with smuggled timber seized,Case registered




June 12 :- Kupwara police intercepted a convoy of Territo
rial Army at Heeri Kupwara on Kupwara-Chowkibal Road late Tuesday night.Sources told that the Army and Police came close to a clash when Deputy Superintendent of Police Sajjad Khaliq and Station House Officer Inspector Gazanfar Hussain along with other Police cops laid an ambush at Heeri around 11 p.m. on Tuesday after learning through its sources that the jawans of TA 160th battalion had illegally felled some green conifer trees, most likely Deodar and sawn it into logs in a dense forest cover. According to the tip-off, one of the TA units has been planning to smuggle about 300 cubic feet of timber from Zirhama to the battalion headquarters of Heeri. At 11.00 p.m. the police party intercepted the TA convoy and forced it to halt. Two feeder trucks, bearing numbers 07C0812484 and 08C0832124 were seized after these were found with smuggled timber. Sources said that the Army unit resisted with shouting and warning but did not open fire as the police party put up a barrier with two bullet proof Rakhshak vehicles. Commanding Officer of the battalion personally came to the spot after a while but he failed to get the seized trucks released. The face-off was on as police were insisting to tow the seized vehicles with the timber to Kupwara and file a case under different provisions of the J&K Forest Act.Investigation is going on a top police official told.

Srinagar turns Greater Srinagar SDA Board approves extension of Local Area from 417 KMs to 757 KMs




Srinagar, June 07:  To ensure integrated, planned and judicious development of Srinagar, the Board of Directors of the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) in a landmark decision Tuesday approved extension of Greater Srinagar local area from the existing 417 kms to 757 kms.The Board meeting was chaired by Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, Mr Nawang Rigzin Jora. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr Shailendra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department, Mr Jeet Lal Gupta, Vice-Chairman SDA, Mr Mohammad Shafi Rather, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Mr RK Mangotra, Chief Town Planner Kashmir, Hakeem Iftikhar, Chief Architect J&K, Mr KC Pant, Joint Director Planning, Mr PS Kakroo, Deputy Director Planning, Mr Rajeev Bushan, and Joint Commissioner SMC, Mr Mushtaq Ahmad were present at the meeting held at SKICC Srinagar.With the Srinagar Master Plan (2001-2021) currently under review, SDA has proposed extension of the existing City limits towards South, West and Northern directions along the new motorway coming up from Gallandar via Narbal upto Ganderbal. In the extended Greater Srinagar local area, 410 sq kms will fall under SDA limits against existing 160 kms, 240 sq kms under Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) limits, 50 kms under Ganderbal, 35 kms under Budgam, 9 kms under Pampore, 7.5 kms under Khrew and 5.2 kms under Cantonment area.As per the new Master Plan, the boundaries of Greater Srinagar would encompass Dara-Fakri and Dachigam National Park on Northeast, Zabarwan hills from Khunmoh towards Khrew on the East, Kakapora Railway Station on Southeast, Budgam local area upto Gallandar on South, Mazhama Railway station & road towards Gulmarg on the Southwest and Buran, Ganepur in Pattan towards the West.Hailing the SDA move to extend the local area limits of Srinagar, Mr Jora, who is also the Chairman of SDA Board, said the decision would go a long way in decongesting the City core area and ensure planned and de-concentrated infrastructure development in and around Srinagar city. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and other members of the Board also commended the decision.The Minister, however, asked SDA to earmark dedicated areas in the Master Plan for institutional activities like education, healthcare, recreation, tourism and traditional works including handicrafts. He also stressed the need for conservation of water bodies, forest areas, saffron and agriculture land in and around Srinagar.He asked SDA authorities to make maximum use of time and resources to create a tangible impact on the infrastructure scenario of Srinagar. He complimented SDA Vice-Chairman for marking a new beginning in turning around SDA as a vibrant organization in a very short span.The Board also approved engagement of a consulting firm by SDA for the preparation of City Development Plan (CDP) for Srinagar. CDP is a collective vision document aimed at improving urban facilities, increasing investment to expand employment and services, formulation of perceptible plan of action for systematic and sustained reduction of urban poverty and focus on urban reforms. CDP also aims at formulating Strategic Action Plan (SAP) and City Assistance Programme (CAP) based on the city development framework to avail funding for development of Srinagar under JNNURM.The Board also approved construction of four-storeyed commercial complex by SDA at Sanatnagar Chowk. The complex would be provided with basement parking facility, shops and office spaces. It would come up at a cost of around Rs 10 crore and is to be completed within three years.In another decision the Board also approved extension of premium payment period for shops and commercial spaces at Sangarmaal City Centre from existing one year to three years.The Board also approved construction of shopline at Bemina, opposite SKIMS Medical College and SDA Guest House at Bemina for housing touring officials from outside the State.Vice-Chairman SDA gave a detailed presentation of the existing and upcoming projects to the Board. He commended the role of SDA employees for infusing new energy in the organization.Rich tributes were paid to late Jenab Mirza Mohd Afzal Beigh 31st  Death Anniversary and Jenab Kh. Ghulam Mohi –ud-Din Shah on their 9th Death Anniversary today at Sher –I- Kashmir Bhawan Jammu and senior leaders National Conference party present. While addressing the gathering seniors leaders said that late Jenab Mirza Mohd. Afzal Beigh and Jenab Kh. Mohi-Ud- Din Shah would be remembered for a long time to come for their historic role which they have played during their lifetime by serving the state in various capacities .He said Mr Beigh was Architect of land reform act and abolisation of big landed Estate Act. He was also close associate of late Sher –I- Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah and remained with him for a long time in Jail also. He was instrumental of 1975 accord between late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi and Sher –I- Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah referring to late Jenab Mohi –ud-Din Shah . They said these two leaders served the state and that they were part of movement launched under the leadership of late Sher –I- Kashmir in J&K State in the early forties .True tributes would be to follow their path and complete the work which they could not complete during their life time. J&K STUDEDNTS MEET PRESIDENT OF INDIA FOR SECOND SUCCESSIVE YEAR & MEET CHIEF MINISTER OF UTTARAKHAND








SRINAGAR, 11 JUN 2013 :-The youth of Jammu and Kashmir got an exposure to the areas outside Jammu and Kashmir which helped them in appreciating the importance of National Integration. With this good intention Army organised a tour of the School Children and teachers hailing from remote and far flung areas of Magam/ Kandi Bowl of Distt Kupwara for Amritsar-Delhi-Dehradun from 30 May to 10 Jun 2013.  The children were appreciative of the efforts by the Army in organising the educational/motivational tour, which gave them a brief exposure to the educational, historical, cultural, religious & geographic diversities of our nation.  The children got a life time opportunity to interact with Honourable President Shri Pranab Mukharjee at Delhi and witnessed Passing Out Parade of newly commissioned Officers at Indian Military Academy Dehradun which was in great demand due to similar exposure to other students in previous year.  The children of J&K interact with Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Mr Vijay Bahuguna at Dehradun.  The students also visited LBS IAS Academy at Mussoorie and enjoyed the beautiful moments while visiting Jalianwala Bagh, Wagah Border, Golden Temple and Guru Nanak Dev University at Amritsar including historical & tourists places at Delhi & Dehradun.Some children, on returning in their exuberance commented that the tour has been an eye opener for them, because of the bonhomie and courtesy that was extended to them by all those with whom they got the opportunity to interact.  The parents and the locals were extremely grateful to the Army for having provided a life time opportunity to their children which could remain embedded in their minds forever.

LeT militant killed in encounter in Pulwama,2 Policemen injured




Srinagar, June 11: Last night In a brief encounter at Takia Niloora, Pulwama, one militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba was killed and two policemen got injured. Reports reaches that A joint party of police, Army and CRPF intercepted a motorbike carrying three persons. On interception, they fired upon the joint party. A brief encounter ensued in which one militant got killed and two policemen suffered injuries.The militant was identified as Ashiq Ahmad Lone @ Chota Rehman son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Hef Shirmal, Shopian affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba. The injured policemen have been shifted to hospital for treatment.Ashiq had joined militancy in 2009, when he came in contact with LeT Commander Abdul Rehman of Pakistan. He was arrested by Anantnag police following his involvement in unlawful activities and a case FIR no; 475/2009 stands registered against him in Police Station Anantnag.After his release, the militant again rejoined LeT cadres and was involved in threatening the panchayat members of Shopian. A case FIR No; 79/2012 stands registered against him in police station Zainapora.

SP Handwara holds police-public meet with traders




Srinagar, June 10: Superintendent of Police, Handwara, Sh. Chaudary Mohammad Aslam today chaired a police–public meeting with the Traders Federation, Handwara. Speaking on the occasion, SP Handwara stressed upon the presidents of Matador and Bus association Handwara to avoid overloading, overcharging and over speeding. The President of Bepoar Mandal was advised to brief all he shop keepers to avoid black marketing. He further requested the participants to extend their cooperation to the local police in discharging its multifarious duties to maintain peace in the area.In the meeting, various public issues pertaining to shortage of drinking water, macadamisation of the road from Sheikh Hamza Complex to New Bus Stand Handwara and other basic amenities were highlighted by the participants. SP Handwara assured the participants that their grievances will be taken with concerned authorities for immediate redressal. He also thanked the participants for sparing their valuable time.The participants assured their cooperation to the local police in eradication of all criminal activities in the area. Taj inaugurates Kabbadi tournament

JUNE 10-Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din inaugurated the three day interstate Kabaddi tournament here today. The three day tournament is being organized by Department of Youth Services & Sports.Addressing the inaugural function, the Minister said the State Government has given sports a relook and the sports infrastructure across the State is being upgraded. He said every block in the State would have a sports complex and every panchayat would have a playfield.Mr. Taj said time has come when the hidden talent of the youth of the state would be exploited properly and the day is not far when many of the youth from J&K would be making it to the nationals.The Minister said Centre has agreed to a sports package to the State under which the sports infrastructure would be upgraded and strengthened. He said under the package every town would have an indoor stadium and all the existing stadia in the State would be equipped with sports equipment.In all teams from 21 states comprising 230 players would be attending the three day sports meet.Director General Youth service sports Navin Agarwal and Senior congress leader Surrinder singh Channi was also present on the occasion.

Govt. would continue to support weaker sections, backward communities: Taj






Beigh Shamim Ahmed :-  JUNE 9:- Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud din today said the Government is taking many steps for the betterment and welfare of weaker sections and backward communities of the society in Jammu & Kashmir. He said Government would continue to support weaker sections till they are brought at par with other sections of the society.Addressing a day long convention organized All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations here today, the Minister said things have improved considerably since independence  and asked members  of these  communities to take full advantage of the welfare schemes launched by the Government from time to time.On the needs of Gujjar community, Mr. Taj said decades of struggle ultimately led to granting the community the status of a Scheduled Tribe. He said now there are avenues available to youth belonging to the community and even under Tribal Sub Plan their social and developmental needs are taken care of. He said stress is laid on covering Gujjar areas under the ambit of schemes in drinking water distribution, road connectivity, power distribution, health, PDS etc. He asked the members of the community to stand united and support Government in its endavour to bring and sustain social justice in the society in the state.On the demands put for by the community leaders, Mr. Taj said the disparity in the amount of scholarships granted to Gujjar students and their counterparts from other communities would be ended. He said time has come when the members of the community can demand these facilities not as concessions but rights duly guaranteed by law. He said he himself went though a struggle of 14 years to grant the community the ST status. This, he said, was a milestone in getting the potential and merit of the community recognized at state and national level.Terming education as a tool for socio economic transformation, the Minister asked the members of the community to educate their wards so that they in future would chart out their paths themselves.The convention was also addressed by Mr. Arif Irfan, Manzoor Khatana, Noor ud Din Noorani and others who put forth the problems of Gujjar community and sought their redressal.

Beigh Shamim Ahmed :-, JUNE 7: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi ud din inaugurated the 3rd annual conference of J&K chapter of Association of Surgeons of India - JAKASICON 2013 here today. In his inaugural address, the Minister hoped that the deliberations at the conference would go a long way in improving the patient care in the state. He said many advancements are taking place in the field of medical sciences and there is a need to share them among the medical practitioners for an efficient and better patient care. Describing Govt. Medical College as a premier institution of the State, Mr Taj said not long ago it was rated as one of the best medical colleges of the country and at one point it was even ranked as no 4. He appealed the faculty, staff and students of the college to help in restoring the college its glory and prime position. The Minister said Government would do whatever is required in this regard and sought support and help from the faculty of the college. He said not the state but even the whole country is proud of the efficient doctors the state has produced who have proved their mettle at international level. But he said, what is required now is conviction and dedication coupled with sincere efforts to take the college back to its position which we all are proud of.Addressing the session, Minister of State for Medical Education, Mr. Feroz Ahmed Khan hoped the conference would be a good learning experience for the young surgeons of the state. He said such conferences bridge the gap between research and its application.Earlier in his welcome address, Principal GMC, Dr Rafiq Pampori dwelt in detail the role played by GMC Srinagar in spreading medical education in the state ever since its establishment in 1959. He said JAKASICON 2013 is one of the events by which the college is trying to keep its staff and students abreast with latest research in medical sciences world over. He thanked Mr Taj for delegating the powers for deputation of faculty to such conferences hoping under his continued guidance and support the college would be able to restore its privileged position. Head, Department of Surgery GMC, Prof Showket Jeelani, former president ASI,  Prof Ramakant and President, JAKASICON, Prof Rakesh Saraf also spoke on the occasion. The event was organized by Government Medical College Srinagar in which many prominent doctors and medical practitioners from within the state and outside participated. Many famed Kashmiri doctors and former faculty members of the GMC including Dr Girja Dhar, Dr Wazeera Khanam, Dr Syed Zahoor, Prof Abdul Rasheed Khan  were also present in the inaugural session. The three day conference would deliberate upon the latest changes and innovations that have taken place in the field of surgery.On the occasion, Mr. Taj released a souvenir of the conference.

State to have new education policy shortly: Feroz

 JUNE 06:  Minister of State for Education Mr, Feroz Ahmad Khan today said that a new education policy is being formulated for the state soon.Announcing this while interacting with representatives of UNICEF and Save the Child (NGOs) here today, Mr. Feroz said that a committee has already been constituted in this regard which will submit its recommendations and draft note to the government shortly. The work is also going on in segregating the cadre for Elementary and Secondary education.Mr. Feroz said that the funds meant for construction purpose under SSA would be directly transferred to School managements during this fiscal, adding that prior to; these funds were transferred to Village Education Committee (VEC).The Minister informed that the SIEs would be upgraded to SCERT level which will help in implementing and monitoring various education programmes and schemes effectively.The Minister said that achieving 68 per cent literacy rate in the State has shown significant progress in education over the past decades. He said that efforts are also afoot to strengthen the school infrastructure, improve teacher capacities and teaching-learning methods and materials under SSA.The Minister lauded the role of NGO ‘Save the Child’ for imparting education in the state in general and Ladakh in particular.  The Members of the NGOs offered their services for improving the education system in the State. Among others, Secretary, School Education Mr. Shaleen Kabra, State Project Director, RMSA Mr. Hilal Ahmad Parray, Director School Education, Kashmir Mr. Mir Tariq Ali,  Project Director, SSA, Mr. S C Sawhney, Joint Director, Directorate of School Education, Jammu Mr. Anil Kumar Jain, besides representatives from Save the Child and UNICEF were present in the meeting

Walnut Trees Cutted in Jawahar Nagar in Broad day light ,No action has been taken,Govt is totally in slumber






June 06 :-Today in Jawahar nagar locality near DAV school,Goal park one person T B singh  @Lovely singh working in Forest department illegally cutted several Green Walnut trees in a broad day light with out any proper Permission of the concerned authority.According to sources the local people of the said area informed the concerned authorities but no action has been taken till date .They said that down trodden people are suffering badly and added the recommended people have always broken the law of the land.They blamed the officials and added that the concerned authority is in slumber.The people demanded strict action in this regard and waiting for justice.

Jora distributes RS.72.86 lakh among 255 houseless beneficiaries, Directs for focussed attention on Historical Town Sopore







BEIGH SHAMIM AHMED:- , JUNE 5: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Mr. NawangRigzinJora  Wednesday said  that on the directions of UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister , Dr. Manmohan Singh a special scheme, popularly known as  JawaharLal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission(JNNURM) has been introduced in the country to focus  on developing the basic infrastructure and the development and beautification of major towns and cities and to develop them on the modern lines with all the requisite  latest facilities,.The Minister was addressing a large gathering at a function held at Sopore Dak Bunglow after distributing cheques worth Rs. 72.86 lakhs among  255 identified houseless beneficiaries as financial assistance under the centrally sponsored Scheme Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme(IHSDP).He said that this amount is second and third instalment for construction of their houses.On the occasion, he was informed that the said scheme has been sanctioned at a cost project of Rs.557.50 lakh, covering 446 beneficiaries so far. He was also told that 50% of Rs.229.53 lakh, the released amount  has been expended  till date .He was further told that  211 Dwelling units stand completed while the work on 158 Dwelling units is in progress against 369  units taken up for the execution. However, the work on 77 dwelling units is yet to be taken in hand.Throwing light on the historical significance of the Sopore Town, the Minister said the Town has produced a number of scholars, politicians, Statesmen, Lawyers, Academicians, and top level bureaucratic and hoped that in future, the Sopore town will continue its legacy of producing luminaries.The Minister assured that special focus would be paid on the development of this historical town and added that the requisite funds for raising necessary infrastructure for the benefit of the people will be arranged for the concerned agencies for carrying out the necessary works.MLA Sopore, Haji Mohammad Ashraf, Ex-MLA, Haji Abdul Rasheed ,Director Local Bodies, Kashmir, Mr. Shafat Noor Balas,Senior congress leader Surrinder singh Channi,SDM, Sopore, Executive Officers of Pattan, Kupwara, and Sopore were present on the occasion.Responding to the demands of the people, the Minister directed SDM Sopore to call a meeting with the MLA Sopore and other local leaders and senior citizen for sorting out the problem of dumping the garbage as early as possible, as the land for dumping the said garbage has already been identified at Aadipora.The Minister also convened a meeting   of the concerned officers to solve the drainage problem of the town. On the occasion, the Minister also directed the Municipal Officers to pay special attention to set right the sewerage system of the town.Mr. Jora also discussed construction of new Bus Adda and a public park with the MLA, Ex MLA and other Senior officers and civil members. He asked the concerned officers to submit proposals for early funding.MLA Sopore, Ex-MLA and Director Local Bodies also spoke on the occasion.

Lolab Valley unlocks new Vistas for Kashmir Tourism: Mir,Promotional campaigns being carried out to woo tourists to virgin destinations of Kupwara






           
  SRINAGAR, JUNE 5:- Minister for Tourism, Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Mir, has said that Lolab valley is an ideal destination being explored fully to showcase it worldwide adding that series of attractions would also be created in virgin tourist destinations of Bangus and Drangyari to divert high-end tourists to these spots. This was stated by the Minister today during his day long tour of Lolab and Reshwari during his interaction with the media and locals. He said Lolab Valley opened new vistas in Kashmir Tourism and concerted efforts are being put in to showcase it globally. He hoped in near future this Valley would become hub of tourism activities. During the visit, the Minister took stock of the tourism activities being carried out in the district. He also reviewed physical and financial status of several projects being executed through Lolab-Bangus-Drangyari Tourism Development Authority (LBDDA) and Tourism Department in the District. Mir said a promotional festival at Lolab, Bangus and Drangyari would be organized this year to attract the tourist to visit these spots. He directed the concerned to identify varied potential areas like Machil Pastures, adventure track routes and introduce them in the shape of packages outside the State. Tourism Minister said spring and Herbal tourism of Lolab would be showcased, as the valley is covered with Majestic Mountains with number of fresh springs and variety of herbs and flowers. He said Lolab was also a favorite trekking route for foreign tourists a few decades ago. “One of the famous trekking route leads to Asia’s largest freshwater Lake Wullar. We can market these routes to attract tourists,” he said.He said picnic tours by educational institutions would be also encouraged in the area. He said the land of love and beauty in north Kashmir is now all set to mesmerize visitors once again. He said the natural beauty of the area is expected to attract hordes of tourists and boost the local economy in coming days. “The Lolab Valley popularly known as the land of love and beauty, is now once again in the limelight with the efforts by tourism department, a sought-after destination for travelers and a source of job opportunities for many Kashmiris”, Mir maintained."Saying peace and normalcy gaining ground in the Valley, people – especially the jobless educated youth of Lolab should opt for tourism avenues and for the purpose State government would encourage them by providing soft loans with subsides for setting up of ventures under the sector”, Minister said and added that a good number of youth would be imparted various types of trainings in hospitality and protocol sector this year also to provide quality services to the tourists. He said a Food craft Institute would also be established in the district and for the purpose a project of Rs 5 crore has been prioritized for Centre funding this fiscal.Minister hoped that the tourism industry will generate sustainable incomes in the district, The Minister called upon the locals to come forward and take benefits of the incentives for converting their houses into guest houses and lodges for tourists. He said a promotional campaign is being also carried out in and outside the Country to woo the tourists to virgin destinations of the district.He said that apart from Chandigam, Khumriyal and Darapora – places blessed with verdant forests and gushing streams, caves and old religious shrines – Kalaroose village in Lolab famous for its copper mines and carved rocks called Sat Burn (seven doors) other potential serene and adventure spots would also be brought on the tourism map."The shrines and caves are expected to attract tourists. We are ready to host the visitors after a long period of time," said Mir. "Fresh water springs, especially Kumarji Nag and Chandinag, are worth seeing."
      Mr Mir  said to upgrade the tourist related infrastructure in the area Rs 1.50 crore are being expended this fiscal under State plan adding that during last fiscal over Rs 1.70 crore has been expended for the purpose. He said under Central financial assistance of Rs 5crore, the work on several tourist facilities is apace in Lolab Valley.Tourism Minister during his whirlwind tour of various spots accompanied by Legislators, Advocate Abdul Haq and Er. Rashid besides Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mr. Talat Parvaz and Chief Executive Officer LBDDA, Mr Mohammad Yaseen inspected pace of progress of several projects at Kupwara, Zangali, Kumarial, Voovara, Chandigam, Reshwari, Lochi. He issued strict instructions to the concerned for time bound completion of tourist facilities.Chief Executive Officer Lolab-Bungus-Drangyari Development Authority, Muhammad Yasin dwelt about the measures taken by the authority for making these areas as places of tourist attraction.

One Lakh to Humanity Welfare Organisation Bijbehara for infrastructure development of the school run for differently abled children.Minister who was Chief Guest on the occasion of children’s sports festival organised for children with special needs by the Humanity Welfare Organisation at Government Degree College (Boys) Anantnag Speaking on the occasion the minister said that these children are part and parcel of our societies and it is our duty to provide them with equal rights and opportunities. He praised the efforts of welfare society for working for the persons with disabilities. Lauding role of the Chairman of the NGO Mr. Javaid Ahmed Tak for his untiring efforts which brought up the NGO to this level, the minister said that these type of sports festivals help to boost the morale of CWSN besides their physical development.A galaxy of sports events which included Cricket, Tug of war, skipping and dance chairs were played before a huge gathering of students and people from different walks of life. Teams from a large number of schools across the valley participated in the festival.Minister distributed the trophies and mementoes among the winner teams and also directed Director Youth Service and Sports for providing all necessary infrastructure with respect to sports material to the special school run by “NGO” Humanity Welfare Organisation Bijbehara.District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, CEO Pahalgam Development Authority, Mr N.H Wani and famous cricket player of the valley Mr. Parveiz Rasool were also present on the occasion.
