Water Testing and Awareness programme organised at Kargil by CCDU




Water Testing and Awareness is one of the core activities of the Communication and Capacity Development Unit/ WEMTEP in ensuring safe water quality standards andpromoting education inrural masses about the importance of water and conservation under National Rural Drinking Water Programme. In this direction, the Department organized free water testing camp at Govt. High Secondary School Kargil. Principal of the institute Mrs Najuma Bano inaugurated the Camp and laidemphasis on the conservation and importance ofsafe drinking water. The students, locals brought their water samples of different sources for on-spot testing by CCDU Experts. More than 220 samples were tested by the team of experts and declared test results to the consumers with necessary information regarding contamination of water and its ill effects.The Department also organised an intensified refresher training programme for the PHE officials at district PHE laboratory Bagh-e-Khumami Kargil as Capacity building of PHED Human resource, associated with drinking water supply monitoring and surveillance. More than 50 PHE officials participated in the programme. CCDU experts demonstrated various methods of water tests to give a broader view to the staff, so that they can apply the methods and techniques in a better way. Executive engineer PHE Division of Kargil inaugurated the camp and while addressing the gathering he said that “ In the past also CCDU shared their Knowledge and techniques in water quality and Surveillance. Today their presence here is their long term commitment towards Capacity Building for this remote District of J&K.He added that the initiative taken by the officers and staff members of the CCDU Department in bringing out such well informative programme which is very helpful for the staff. I wish the Department and the officers, all the best in their endeavour to render meaningful service to the community.
