Srinagar, March 12: On 08.03.2013, stone pelters started
pelting stones on the vehicles at Tikibagh, Mattan. One Load Carrier Auto
bearing registration number JK03C/7364 was stopped by these pelters and started
pelting on his load carrier which resulted into grievous hurt to its driver
Riyaz Ahmed Khanday, age 23 years, son
of Nazir Ahmad resident of Ahang Matipora. Three more persons known to Riyaz
Ahmad Khanday were also traveling in the Load Carrier carrying willow saplings
to be dropped at Krangsoo Tikibagh. Stone pelting at Tikibagh caused severe
head injury to Riyaz Ahmad Khanday and was shifted to Anantnag Hospital from
where he was referred to SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar. He expired on 11.03.2013 at
7.30 PM. During the course of investigation of case FIR No. 12/2013 under
section 147, 148, 149, 341, 336 RPC. Four accused persons namely Mohammad Iqbal
Najar age 24 years, son of Abdul Majid resident of Kralpora Mattan, Aamir Hussain
Najar age 18 years, son of Abdul Hameed Najar resident of Kralpora, Aamir Bashir Malik, B.Ed student son of
Bashir Ahmad Malik resident of Kralpora and
Sartaj Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Kralpora a shopkeeper
were arrested on 10.03.2013 and have been remanded to Police custody for seven
days. Two more accused persons are yet to be arrested for which efforts are on.
Further investigation of the case is going on. Residents of Ahang Matipora
protested against stone pelters and demanded action against culprits Deputy
Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Mr. Vijay Kumar alongwith Deputy
Commissioner Anantnag Mr. Farooq Ahmed Shah and Sr. Superintendent of Police
Anantnag visited the house of deceased Riyaz Ahmed’s home and met his family
members. They presented an amount of Rs, 1.50 lacs, one lac of Ex-griatia and
fifty thousands from Red Cross to the family of deceased.After the death of the injured driver police has added 302
section of RPC to the FIR.
