Srinagar, March 16, : Medical Superintendent of Valley’s
lone children Hospital allegedly beat up a woman attendant from old city to
pulp, sparking tension in G.B.Panth Hospital on Saturday afternoon.“Dr Munir
Masoodi slapped me thrice on my face, kicked my back and pushed me to wall,”
Shamima Banoo from Fathekadal area of Srinagar told reporters with tearful eyes
in Press Enclave Srinagar adding she could not bear this insult and is
intending to commit suicide.Narrating her woeful tale, Mean while Yesterday
night A Doctor misbehaved with a young
women in SMHS hospital when she went there for treatment of his 4 years
son but the doctor paid no attention
towards his deteriorating condition.Also concerned doctor threatened her and
told that he will call the police.SHO Karan Nagar Basharat Ahmed reached the
spot immediately and doctor flew from hospital but no action has been taken
against the doctor who misbehaved with the women.Mean while Shamima Bano said
that she has admitted her three months old granddaughter, Fariya Shabir in
G.B.Panth Hospital on Friday night. “Being an attendant, I had laid a blanket
in corridor and was sitting there. Suddenly, Medical Superintendent, Dr Munir
Masoodi passed from the corridor and asked me to leave the corridor. As I was
packing up my blanket, he (Munir Masoodi) without any reason shouted at me and
kicked and slapped me. I was dumbfound and when tears rolled from my eyes, all
the attendants present their rebuked the MS but to my total surprise he
threatened them all,” she said.The woman said that the Doctor slapped her face
thrice, kicked her back and forcibly pushed her to wall. “I could not bear this
insult. I am forty plus, mother of two and a grandmother as well, how can the
head of a hospital behave like a wild animal and take law in his own hands?”
she questioned.Her son Shabir Ahmed said that when he raised finger over this
hooliganism of the Doctor, “He threatened me and told me that he will call the
SHO of Ram Munshi Bagh and will lodge me in jail. Number of people including
some nurses complained about his hooliganism there,” he said.The doctor was not
available for comment. However, when contacted, Medical Education Minister, Taj
Mohi-u-Din told that he will look into the matter. “No one is allowed to beat
anyone. I will direct the Principal Government Medical College to visit the
Hospital and ascertain the facts,” Taj said adding that Dr Munir Masoodi has
changed the look of the hospital.
