Hurriyat (G) alleges army of suspiciously photographing office Defence Spokesperson rejected the Hurriyat (G) statement

16 December ,INB NEWS KASHMIR :- The Hurriyat Conference (G) led by Syed Ali Geelani has accused the army of suspiciously and clandestinely photographing and surveying the surroundings of the residence cum office of the octogenarian leaders at Hyderpora here. However, the army has rejected the claim.Hurriyat (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar said a contingent of army appeared near the residence of Geelani and surveyed the area in a suspicious manner. He said the policemen deputed there did not bother to inquire about the army’s purpose of conducting survey of the area and taking photographs. The Hurriyat spokesperson rejected the idea that police deployed at Geelani’s residence was for providing security to the octogenarian leader. “If they were meant for security, why did they act as mute spectators. There have been attacks and rocket fires in past. Panic has spread among the residents of the area”, he added. He said despite claiming that army was not active in Srinagar, they were conducting such surveys in the city. “If any untoward happens in the area, the responsibility for that will lie on the army, police and the authorities”, said Akbar. However, Defence Spokesperson, Col J S Brar rejected the Hurriyat (G) statement calling it ‘baseless’. “Army is not operating in the city and the statement is baseless”, he said.
