1435 Burmese Nationals have managed to ingress into Jammu and Kashmir



Srinagar, March 14, : Assuring that no non State subject has ever managed to raise his personal assets in the state, Minister In- charge, Home Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo Thursday said that if any such case comes into the notice of the government it will be dealt strongly. However he admitted that 1435 Burmese Nationals have managed to ingress into State through Bangladesh border after which they have dispersed throughout the State.According to him whenever such reports are received by police in the State, these are inquired into and appropriate action are being taken under law in such cases.He was replying to a question by BJP MLA Chaman Lal Gupta.Mir Saifullah said that 325 Burmese families compromising 1435 people are presently residing in Jammu district, in addition, one female Bangladeshi national was residing in Srinagar on the basis of marriage grounds.When asked whether some organizations are involved in encouraging their entry into the State and are funding for their rehabilitation he said that no such information had come into the notice of the Government. “However, one NGO of Abdul Rasheed Nazki namely “Sheikhwat” was running three schools at Malik Market, Kiryani Talab, and Jammu for providing education to Burmese Children.” The Minister said.Admitting that many of them have been found involved in flesh trade and other unlawful activities, he said police has detained some of them under PSA and they are currently lodged in district Jail Kathua.According to him, one Bangladeshi national, namely Mukhlis Hussain Sheikh reportedly entered into the State via Uri in the year 2010 without travel documents and was arrested by Baramullah Police and was later convicted for one year imprisonment.
